Want some PB&J with those hot wings?

In East Dubuque Illinois, the Telegraph Herald reported on WingFest V, and boy, were there some interesting chicken wings. Here are some excerpts from the article:

  • "The Dubuque resident figured bleu cheese went well with chicken wings, so he spent two weeks creating a chicken wing that was drenched in bleu cheese."
  • "Evans eventually discovered the wing should first be cooked with a dry rub and then be dipped in a bleu cheese batter that included the signature cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise."
  • Fellow cook Iris Wegmann spent a month perfecting her peanut butter and jelly chicken wings . . . Her wings, which were steamed, grilled and deep fried, were especially created for the wing festival. "Who doesn't like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" Wegmann asked. "Why not put it on a wing?"
  • "Everything from foreign peppers to apples to powdered cheese was used by some of the 23 chefs who gathered in downtown East Dubuque for the annual WingFest."

First: WingFest is an awesome idea.

Second: I don't know how I feel about those wing flavours. They sound . . . well I would be curious to try anyway.

Third: I need a chicken wing fix, its been a while. I need a chicken wing festival.
