WWWWWW #78 - The Rose of Jericho

World Wide Web Wacky Wing Wednesday. #lotwWWWWWW.
Exploring chicken wing culture on the internet every Wednesday.

This Week:

The Rose of Jericho: Voodoo, Hoodoo & Other Wonderful Things

Have you ever been eating chicken wings, and when you are done have a ton of bones leftover and your like, what can I do with those bones? Have you ever considered, fortune telling?

According to the Rose of Jericho, you can! To "cast the bones" or more accurately, sortilege, this is what you need to do:

"The sortilege method I'm going to be using here for demonstration purposes is very much a watered down version of the sortilege system I normally use and will only consist of 13 objects: 5 chicken bones, 4 coloured dice and 4 cowries.
But, its still workable and lots of fun if you want to give it a go.
You will need:
a wing bone, 2 leg bones, a broken wing bone and a rib bone all taken from a chicken. Red, green, white and black 6 sided spot dice. 4 cowrie shells"
Also, don't forget your fortune telling cards.

Check out ROJ's specific page "21 Card Gypsy Spread and Bone Casting: Part 2, Casting The Bones...." for more information on what to do, how to read the responses etc.

Now, if only I could use these to find out the next amazing wings I'm going to have . . .

LOTW Meme Mondays #1: Lord of the Wings

Who doesn't love a good meme? I know I sure do. And who knew there were so many chicken wing themed meme's out there. For our first meme, I thought it was appropriate to not only the first chicken wing meme in history, but also one that came out near the beginning of this blog, Lord of the Wings:

I don't know who created it, but Frodo holding a bucket of chicken playing on the name Lord of the Rings, was simple, but brilliant. It ushered in a new era of food pun memes across the internet and spawned its own meme influence:

Did you know there is a pokemon card?

A fake movie poster?

This Florida State res event (which sounds awesome!)

This wing eating contest in Sacramento.

This confusing meme ( 1 Dominos does not have great wings, and they are not grilled - wtf?)

WWWWWW #77 - Reuban Paterson's The Golden Promise

World Wide Web Wacky Wing Wednesday. #lotwWWWWWW. Exploring chicken wing culture on the internet every Wednesday.

This week:

Reuban Paterson: Artist

I may not know art, but I know I like chicken wings and art. At the Albany campus of Massey University in New Zealand, one of his sculptures was installed named "The Golden Promise":

It is glorious and will be mine one day.

"An established Auckland artist renowned for his work using glitter, Mr Paterson used the metaphor of a wing symbolising protection and nurturing offered by the university to students at the campus, which was previously the site of chicken farming.)"

“This work especially refers to – and celebrates – the development of the university from its beginnings as an agricultural college, into what it has aspired to become over the course of its own history – and just as the university has transformed and grown over this time, so too has the pastoral land on which it is located at Albany,”
This video won't play here, but click to watch it over on Vimeo:

Art is subjective, but then again, so art chicken wings.
What do you think?

Harvey's & Kelsey's wing promotions

Found in my inbox:

Harvey's is doing up Buffalo Chicken flavours these days - and I do have to say I am a fan of the Buffalo Chicken sandwich - its crispy, saucy and has a bite.

Kelsey's on the other hand has both a Wing & Chicken Finger combo OR a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich for $10  - seems like a decent deal to me. I haven't had their wings for a while, but they used to be good.

Are you trying any of these? Have you already? Do you know any other deals? Let me know today!

WWWWWW #76 - Josh Elkin's Chicken Wing of Thrones

World Wide Web Wacky Wing Wednesday. #lotwWWWWWW. Exploring chicken wing culture on the internet every Wednesday.

This week:

Josh Elkin: Chef | Food Artist

I originally came across Josh for his "Makin A Pizza" rap - and I could not get this song out of my head:

I was also like, this guy looks really familiar - have I seen him somewhere else before?

Yes, yes I have:

He used to be on Epic Meal Time. Epic.

Anyways, he made some internet waves when he combined 2 of my favourite things, GAME of THRONES and CHICKEN WINGS.

How?  He created a Throne of Wings:

When you play the game of thrones you win or you die. When you play the game of wings, you win and you cry.

The photo became so popular it led to its own fan art:

So check out Josh but make sure you come hungry (or full, otherwise you will get hungry).

Return of Wing

The Lord of the Wings blog has been stagnant for too long.

I love this blog and I love chicken wings and it`s time to get back to a state of regular posting and exploring chicken wings.

So to do so, I`m restarting WORLD WIDE WEB WACKY WING WEDNESDAY

I started WWWWWW as a way to force myself to post at least once a week and you know what? Let's do it again. The last time I posted a WWWWWW was 2013. That's ridiculous.

So every Wednesday, expect a post about someone else posting about chicken wing culture. Search #lotwwwwwww.

You know where else you can find me posting regularly? Instagram.

I haven't been blogging but I have been all over instagram for chicken wing photos. I have a viewer in the blog but I am going to re-post to the blog whenever I can. Re-post Sundays? Let's see how this goes. But find me at @lotw_wingking.

On top of all that, I want to get back to what LOTW was all about - reviewing chicken wings. I'm trying to streamline my methods because it takes waaay to long to post a review. Give me time, but we'll get there.
